Local CC Runners Compete in Pioneer Invite – Go Health Pro

Cross country runners from Sevastopol, Sturgeon Bay and Gibraltar were on the golf course at Cherry Hills on Thursday to compete along with other schools in the Pioneer Invite.

Green Bay Preble (27) topped the girls race, followed by Two Rivers (62) and Luxemburg-Casco (64) in the top three.

Sturgeon Bay’s girls, who placed fifth with 145 points, had two freshmen on the 5,000-meter course record top-20 finishes – Megan Quaderer (16th in 22:16) and Delaney Skiba (17th in 22:18).

Sevastopol’s girls, who placed seventh with 159 points, recorded their top finish by senior Naomi Rikkola (22nd in 22:46). The Pioneers had two other top 30-finishes from sophomore Shylee Asher and junior Sienna Cain finishing 27th and 28th, respectively, in 23:36.

Gibraltar’s girls, who didn’t have at least five finishers to score in the team standings, were led by junior Emilie Glocke (40th in 25:50).

Preble senior Gabrielle Haller won the race in 19:32 – 10 seconds ahead of the runner-up, Luxemburg-Casco sophomore Claire DuChateau.

In the boys race, Two Rivers (31) edged out Luxemburg-Casco (34) for the team title, with Manitowoc Lutheran (60) third, followed by Denmark (119) and Sturgeon Bay (159) as the only five teams with at least five finishers.

The only boy from a Door County school to crack the top 20 was Sevastopol senior Jarius Dadam (15th in 18:45). Gibraltar’s top runner was sophomore Graham Devoe (30th in 20:51). Sturgeon Bay was led by senior Luke Selle (35th in 22:17).

Two Rivers senior Eli Gallaghar won the race in 16:43 – 16 seconds ahead of his senior teammate and the runner-up, Carson Kadow.
