Terrence R. “Terry” Cochart 78, of Brussels, passed away on Jan. 2, 2024, at Bellin Hospital in Green Bay. He was born July 18, 1946, in Algoma to Harris and Clarice Cochart. Terry graduated from Southern Door High School in 1964 and was then drafted into the U.S. Army. He served his country for 2 years in Vietnam from 1966-68. On May 3, 1969, he married Mary E. Dachelet in Brussels, and together they raised three children.
Early on, Terry started a tire business out of his home while working at Firestone Tires in Green Bay. For a short time, he later worked at Bissen Black Top, Sand and Gravel. In 1986, he established T.R. Cochart Tire Center in Sturgeon Bay and eventually expanded their business to include a tire recycling service. Terry retired in 2015 from the tire business and then operated a truck sales dealership as a hobby business for a number of years.
Terry enjoyed traveling with his wife to almost every state in the U.S., making a lot of good friends along the way. Terry had a large collection of antique cars, trucks, and tractors. He enjoyed touring with those vehicles and going to numerous antique shows. He also enjoyed metal fabricating and creating in his shop. Most of all, Terry loved spending time with his family, especially the grandkids. Holidays were always a very special time for him.
Survivors include his wife; three children, Tricia (Mike) Hanson, Tim (Tracie) Cochart, and Tracy (Greg, deceased 2021) Jorns; six grandchildren, Colton Simon, Celina Simon, Tom Cochart, Cameron Cochart, Brayden Jorns, and Gavin Jorns; a great-grandson, Waylon Simon; siblings, Roderick (Nancy) Cochart, Reggie (Jane) Cochart, Mike Cochart, Susie (Wayne) Delwiche, Marcia Vlies, and Lisa (special friend, Donnie) Stade; in-laws, Roger (Karen) Dachelet, David (Jana) Dachelet. He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Ervin and Eunice Dachelet; son-in-law, Greg Jorns; and brother-in-law, Ron Vlies.
Funeral services with military honors will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2025, at St. Francis and St. Mary’s Parish in Brussels with Rev. Rex Payala officiating. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the time of services at the church on Tuesday. Forbes Funeral Home is assisting the family.
