Sevastopol’s girls basketball team now has two 1,000-point career scorers on this season’s team after Kayla Ranly reached that milestone in Thursday’s 77-39 Packerland Conference victory at Sturgeon Bay.
Ranly entered the game needing 17 points to hit 1,000 and made a three-point basket with 5:52 to play in the first half to join senior teammate and Pioneer career scoring leader Naomi Rikkola in the 1,000-point club.
Ranly scored 21 of her game-high 29 points in the first half, which Sevastopol led 48-11 as the Clippers committed multiple turnovers while facing the Pioneers’ full-court pressure defense.
Also scoring in double figures for Sevastopol were Ella Volkmann with 17 points, which includes three threes, and Sadie Rikkola with 12 points and a pair of threes.
Regan Kasten led Sturgeon Bay with 15 points, which were all scored in the second half, followed by Dasha Yeltysheva with 10 points.
The Pioneers, who won their seventh game in a row to improve to 7-2 in the Packerland and 12-4 overall, return to action Saturday afternoon when they play a conference game at Southern Door.
The Clippers (1-9, 2-12) play a non-conference game Monday at Green Bay East before their next Packerland matchup Jan. 31 at Southern Door.
