Aeolus hires Giorgio Scrocca from OdysseyRe as AVP, Underwriting – Go Health Pro

Aeolus Capital Management Ltd., the specialist insurance-linked securities (ILS) and reinsurance investment manager, has announced the appointment of Giorgio Scrocca from OdysseyRe in London as Assistant Vice President (AVP), Underwriting.

Based in Bermuda, Scrocca joins the ILS manager to focus on risk sourcing, cedent relations, underwriting and portfolio management, explains Aeolus.

He spent more than seven years with property and casualty reinsurer OdysseyRe, having joined as an underwriting assistant in November 2017, later becoming assistant underwriter, and most recently serving as an underwriter focused on non-marine retro, index products, risk/catastrophe on direct and facultative, U.S. and international treaty and onshore energy.

“We are absolutely thrilled to attract someone of Giorgio’s caliber to Aeolus. He further enhances our portfolio management team and we can’t wait to see what he achieves in his new role,” said Fergus Morrison, Partner, Aeolus.

The appointment of Scrocca follows numerous additions to the Aeolus team in 2024, including Maya Henry to its Business Development and Investor Relations team, and weather and climate meteorologist, Dr. Chris Hennon, as Senior Research Scientist, and also Dia Bhatia from investment bank J.P. Morgan, also to the Business Development and Investor Relations team.

Last year, the company also announced that its CEO, Andrew Bernstein, will become the Head of Portfolio Management amid the departure of co-head Evan Winters at the end of 2024.
