Brown, Goldstein & Levy partner Jacqui Cadman was honored to be asked back to the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law’s Criminal Defense Clinic on April 8, where she used her expertise to serve as a judge for the Clinic’s mock suppression hearings. This is the second consecutive year that Jacqui was invited to help the Clinic’s aspiring defense attorneys sharpen their advocacy skills in a realistic courtroom setting.
At UMD Carey Law, students in the Criminal Defense Clinic represent indigent clients charged with crimes in Baltimore City. They learn to zealously advocate for their clients at every stage of the criminal trial process, including evidentiary hearings. As a respected litigator known for her courtroom presence and legal acumen, Jacqui was selected to preside over the Clinic’s end-of-year mock suppression hearings. In this role, she ruled on objections, decided legal issues, and provided valuable feedback to students—guidance they will carry forward into their legal careers.
As a seasoned trial attorney, Jacqui is widely regarded as a leading criminal defense trial lawyer, and she is deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of criminal defense attorneys.
Each year, faculty and students in the UMD Clinical Law Program dedicate nearly 75,000 hours to providing free legal services to the community. Carey Law is also home to a nationally recognized National Trial Team, ranked among the top 40 trial advocacy programs in the country.
