Southern Door’s girls track and field team won the Packerland Conference championship at Monday’s meet in Kewaunee.
The Eagles were in a two-way race with Kewaunee for the conference title, edging out the Storm by three points, 190-187, followed by Peshtigo (83), Sturgeon Bay (76.5), Gibraltar (46), NEW Lutheran (28), Sevastopol (26), Algoma (24.5) and Oconto (15).
Southern Door’s girls finished first in five of the 18 events, which included Elise Jackson winning the 100-meter hurdles (16.04 seconds) and 300 hurdles (48.86); Ava Everard topping the high jump (4 feet, 10 inches); Frankie Nellis winning the long jump (17-3.25); and Portia Hah, Kyleigh Claflin, Amira Anschutz and Chelsie Claflin winning the 4×200 relay (1:55.47).
The Clippers’ four first-place finishes came from Ella Tarkowski in the 100 dash (12.72;, Delaney Skiba in the 3200 run (12:37.66); Tarkowski, Tiviana Andropolis, Talia Schmidt and Cady Carlson in the 4×100 relay (52.93); and Carlson, Tarkowski, Hannah Kiekhafer and Ava Estes in the 4×400 relay (4:36.07).
In the boys competition, Peshtigo topped Southern Door by 8.5 points to win the conference title, 182.5-174, followed by Algoma (90), Kewaunee (83), Sturgeon Bay (51.5), Sevastopol (42), Oconto (29), NEW Lutheran (29) and Gibraltar (14).
The Eagle boys finished first in seven events, which included Ben Grota being a triple winner in the 800 run (2:06.02), 1600 run (4:54.45) and 3200 run (11:01.05); Lauden Berg winning both the long jump (21-3) and triple jump (42-1); Grant Pieschek topping the pole vault (13-0); and Damontrae Meeks winning the 110 hurdles (16.15).
Sturgeon Bay’s lone first-place finish came from Braden Evers in the shot put (47-8).
Sevastopol recorded its lone first-place finish from Rayshaune Johnson in the 100 dash (11.45).
