Eagles Clobber Cold-shooting Clippers, 66-38 – Go Health Pro

The first-half shooting woes of Sturgeon Bay’s boys basketball team were too much to overcome Friday in its Packerland Conference matchup at home against intra-county rival Southern Door, which ended up winning, 66-38.

The Eagles tallied the first 16 points before the Clippers got on the scoreboard midway through the first half on a three-pointer by Ian Fruzyna. Sturgeon Bay didn’t score again until about 30 seconds remained before halftime on another basket behind the arc by Ben Ash.

Southern Door closed out the half on a three-pointer by Braylon Berg to lead 31-6 at the break.

Ironically, the game marked the lowest point total of the season for the county’s all-time career scoring leader, Eagles senior guard Drew Daoust, who tied teammate Caden Pierre with a game-high 16 points. Lauden Berg added 14 points.

Fruzyna was the only Clipper player to score in double figures with 10 points.

Southern Door, which improved to 3-0 in the Packerland and 4-1 overall, next plays a non-conference game Dec. 27 against Mosinee as part of the Green Bay Preble Holiday Tournament.

Sturgeon Bay (2-2, 3-3) next hosts a non-conference game Dec. 28 against Green Bay East.
