Editor’s Note: Together, We Create – Go Health Pro

This is our final issue of 2024. We’ve made it through another year together, emphasis on the ‘together.’

Without you, our print, digital and podcast content would remain an act or intention to communicate. It doesn’t become communication unless it’s received – and that’s where you, our readers, come in. It’s you who helps us transform that verb into a noun, turning our efforts into a shared experience.

This process is a two-way circuit, with the current of information and ideas flowing in both directions. You help shape our work through your comments, letters, guest columns, news tips, press releases and photos. You are the heart of community journalism and we are grateful for your contributions.

Our collaborative creation also depends upon the talented voices of our niche writers and regular columnists. If we prepare a meal, they turn it into a feast. We are especially grateful to Kevin Naze (Wild Things), Charlotte Lukes (Door to Nature), Mike Orlock (Mike at the Movies), Cynthia Germain (Healthy Aging), Estella Lauter (Local Lit), Bret Bicoy (Pulse of Philanthropy), Craig Sterrett (Fairways), Julie Gilbert (Tourism & the Visitor Economy), Jason Annis-Wild and Herb Gould (Door County League), Karen Corekin-DeLaMer and Sally Collins (Parent Corner), and our Culture Club writers, all members of the Peninsula Arts and Humanities Association.

We also value contributions from the Door County Published Authors Collective and the Door County Poets Collective, who help us give voice to our community’s literary culture.

A special shout-out goes to the Door County League of Women Voters and its Observer Corp, whose members are helping us create a rare model of community journalism. If you question the importance of watching government meetings – don’t. We know what you’re doing, we know how important it is, and we are giving voice to those efforts.

We also have quarter-timers who help us push the final pieces into place: Tom Groenfeldt, who anchors our arts section and introduces us to the artists among us; Mike Bacsi, who enriches our Palate content and brings a unique flair to our Server of the Week feature; and Larry Mohr, who not only takes exceptional photos, but who mentored our photography intern throughout the year – Remy Carmichael, whose promise is only exceeded by her natural talent and willingness to learn.

Here’s to all of you and to another year of shared stories, creativity and collaboration. Together, we’ve made it through and together, we’ll continue to create.

Happy New Year!
