The Door County Bookmobile. Submitted.
Door County Libraries are celebrating National Library Week, April 6-12.
The Baileys Harbor, Sister Bay/Liberty Grove and Sturgeon Bay branches will be giving away free coloring books all week long during open hours. The coloring books feature all eight Door County Library locations.
On April 8, 10 am – 1 pm at the Sturgeon Bay location, homemade quilts will be on display throughout the library, and members of the Door County Quilters Guild will be on-hand to chat.
The following day, April 9, 10 am – 1 pm, members of the Arachne Spinners Guild will be working on projects in the main area of the Sturgeon Bay Library, where they will be available for questions and conversation.
National Library Outreach Day (formerly National Bookmobile Day) celebrates library outreach efforts and the librarians who meet their patrons where they are. Traditionally, National Bookmobile Day has been celebrated during the Wednesday of National Library Week.
The Egg Harbor Historical Society will continue that tradition with an event on April 9. The Door County Bookmobile will be on hand in the parking lot of the Kress Pavilion, 7845 Church St. in Egg Harbor, for tours and photos, 12-3 pm. The Bookmobile visit will coincide with a historical society program in the Kress, 1-2 pm.
Also on April 9, Door County Library Director Dominic Frandrup will visit two library locations for a meet-and-greet – the Sister Bay/Liberty Grove Library, 2:30-3:30 pm, and the Sturgeon Bay Library, 5-6 pm.
Guests are invited to drop by and share their favorite library stories, ask questions, learn about future plans for the eight branches and enjoy light refreshments.
