Donna L. Wolske, 82, Algoma, died Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Bellin Hospital. She was born June 30, 1942, in Sturgeon Bay to the late Clayton and Leona (Anschutz) Cardy. Donna graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1960.
Donna married Daniel Wolske at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Sturgeon Bay on June 4, 1966.
During her high school years, Donna worked as a nurse’s aide at the Door County Memorial Hospital. She continued her nursing education by attending the Holy Family School of Nursing in Manitowoc. After graduating with a nursing degree in 1963, Donna became a staff nurse in Pediatrics at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Green Bay. A year later, Donna became a staff registered nurse with the American Red Cross in Green Bay. In 1988, she became a charge nurse and trainer. Donna retired from the American Red Cross in 2004, with 40 years of experience.
Over the years, Donna enjoyed baking, knitting and gardening. She especially enjoyed making chocolate chip cookies, birthday and wedding cakes for family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter Trudy (Brian) Patten, New Holstein, two sons Steve Wolske and Mark Wolske, both of Algoma; four grandchildren Jakob, Colby and Breanna Patten and Arianna Wolske; two brothers Darrel (Carole) Cardy, Whitehall, Michigan, and Tom (Alice) Cardy, East Lansing, Michigan, one sister Margie Cardy, Green Bay; three brothers-in-law Hank Severin, Kewaunee, Jim (Judy) Wolske and Bruce Wolske, all of Algoma, four sisters-in-law, Barbara Bosdeck, Algoma, Wendy (Jim) Stoller, Algoma, Carol Wolske and Cindy Milinski both of Green Bay; many nieces and nephews.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Dan, her parents, in laws Herbert and Mabel Wolske, brothers-in-law Daryle Wolske and Wenzil Bosdeck, two sisters-in-law Shirley Severin and Diane (Bob) Jacobs; two nephews Allen Wolske and Scott Wolske.
Family and friends may call at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Forestville, Friday, March 28, 2025 from 10:00 AM until the time of services at Noon, with Rev., Dr. Christopher Jackson officiating. Burial in the church cemetery.
In lieu of other expressions on sympathy donations may be made out to the American Red Cross, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or any hospice.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all the caregivers at Oak Creek Assisted Living, Algoma, Willowpark Place, New Holstein, Atrium Post Acute Care of New Holstein, Calumet Co. Hospice, Unity Hospice and Bellin Hospital for all the care given to our mom over the years.
