Rock Pioneers, Radio Theater, Kids’ Music at DCA – Go Health Pro

Door Community Auditorium (DCA) will continue its 2025 winter season with two events this Saturday: a morning DJ set and an evening radio theater performance.

Up first on Feb. 22 is a 10 am DJ set by David Watkins focused on the pioneers of rock music.

Watkins’ curated set of tunes is the third and final 2025 installment of DCA’s annual Door County Talks series, this year called Door County Talks (and Listens). Spinning real records  – 78s, 45s, and LPs – on modern equipment, Watkins will showcase rock pioneers Elvis Presley and Bill Haley and The Saddlemen while also providing commentary about the artists.

The session is free. Donations are encouraged. Coffee and baked goods will be available for purchase.

At 7 pm, also in the lobby, DCA will host a coffeehouse performance by Bayside Radio Theatre, in which heroes, villains and mysteries come alive through sound alone.

A cast of five – Vance Toivonen, Mark Moede, Christopher Powless, Bruce Newbern and Cherryl Fonfara – uses character voices, atmospheric sound effects and original, old-time radio scripts to take audiences back in time to the golden age of radio.

At DCA, they’ll perform It Happened One Night, in which a spoiled socialite falls in love with a roguish reporter, and Sunset Boulevard, in which a former silent-film star draws a screenwriter into her deranged fantasy world. Coffee and baked goods will be available for purchase.

Next up at DCA is a performance by Grammy- and Latin Grammy-winning duo 123 Andrés, on Feb. 28, 6:30 pm.

Catchy songs and high-energy shows by 123 Andrés get kids and their families dancing and singing in both Spanish and English. The husband-and-wife team performs for tens of thousands of children each year. Their songs and videos are used in early childhood and elementary classrooms across the U.S. and abroad, and they have charmed live audiences in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela and Central America.
