NORTHBROOK, Ill., Oct. 28, 2024 – Allstate today announced a new chapter in its longstanding support of college athletics that will spotlight and elevate all sports and all athletes. As part of this effort, Allstate will expand its most recognizable and impactful college football properties – the Good Hands field goal nets program and the Good Works Team – to create more opportunities for all student-athletes to achieve success on and off the field.
- Creating more opportunities for student-athletes: Celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2025, Allstate’s Good Hands nets have become a Saturday staple in college football while raising millions of dollars for general scholarship funds. Starting today, Allstate will increase its donations for each field goal and extra point made during a game and direct them to fund scholarships for student-athletes across all sports.
- Widening community impact: The Allstate AFCA Good Works Team currently recognizes 22 college football players each year who give back to their communities. Beginning this winter sports season, Allstate will partner with the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) to expand the Good Works Team to honor 60 additional student-athletes across the winter, spring and fall sports seasons, increasing and recognizing the community impact of more student-athletes across all sports.
“We believe strength of character on the field means strength of character in the world,” said Elizabeth Brady, Allstate’s chief marketing, customer and communications officer. “We are building on our nearly 20-year legacy of support in college sports to provide more student-athletes the opportunity to succeed both athletically and academically, regardless of the sport they play. This will extend our purpose as the Good Hands beyond the scoreboard and into every corner of society where student-athletes can make a difference.”
Award-winning sports journalist and broadcaster Holly Rowe will partner with Allstate to amplify the impact of these programs.
“College sports help shape the character and resilience of student-athletes,” said Rowe. “The lessons learned on the court, field, pool or track extend far beyond competition – they foster leadership, perseverance, and a commitment to community. I look forward to partnering with Allstate as it extends its support to more student-athletes, including women, who will carry those values through life. We can’t wait to showcase the Good Works that so many students are providing.”
Legacy in college sports
Allstate has been a proud member of the college sports community for nearly two decades through its university and conference sponsorships, academic scholarships and community impact.
This January will mark the 19th year as title sponsor of the Allstate Sugar Bowl, one of the many college sports properties through which Allstate connects with fans, student-athletes and communities. Allstate has supported the Good Works Team since 2008, recognizing and increasing the community impact of players and coaches championing causes such as mental health, youth empowerment, hunger relief and domestic abuse prevention.
