Best Affordable Coding Bootcamps Online Of 2024 – Forbes Advisor – Technologist

How will you fund your bootcamp? Consider these options.

How Much Is an Affordable Coding Bootcamp?

Among the programs on this list, costs range from $9,975 to $17,495, amounting to an average price of just over $13,500. However, this data only reflects rates from five bootcamps, which may not give a full picture of available tuition. Also, we evaluated affordability based on more than just tuition price. We also considered scholarship offerings, job guarantees and financing plans.

Upfront Payment

If you’re looking to pay the lowest price for your bootcamp, upfront payments are usually the way to go. The only catch? You need to cover the cost of your entire program in a single payment.

Pay in Installments

Paying your tuition in installments usually costs more over time than an upfront payment. But this option splits up your expenses over the course of the program and beyond, which proves more manageable for many learners. Some bootcamps may even allow you to defer your installments until after completing the program.

Income Share Agreement

Much like deferred payments and installment-based pay, income share agreements (ISAs) allow you to break up tuition costs into chunks. However, your payments are calculated according to an agreed-upon percentage of your post-graduation salary, regardless of how much you earn. As a result, you may end up paying one and a half times the original tuition cost with an ISA.

Fortunately, some ISAs carry repayment caps. Closely read the fine print to know what you’re agreeing to before committing to an ISA.

Job Guarantee

Some bootcamps offer a job guarantee, which erases or refunds your tuition if you fail to find relevant employment after graduation.

Job guarantees often carry strict requirements, however. To qualify, you may need to demonstrate that you have applied to a certain number of jobs within a specific period, attended conferences and even networked with peers and employers. Read the terms of a job guarantee agreement before committing.

Loans, Scholarships and Other Aid

Though bootcamps are typically ineligible for federal student aid, programs may partner with private companies like Climb, Earnest and Ascent to provide lending options. Loans require repayment with interest, though some providers may offer 0% loans if you can pay them back within a specific period.

Scholarships, however, do not require repayment. Research whether your prospective bootcamp, along with any private organizations, offers scholarships for aspiring tech workers. You may have to demonstrate need or specific identify qualifications to become eligible. Some bootcamps also accept funding from the GI Bill®.
