At Inszone Insurance Services, we believe that our success is measured not only by our professional achievements but also by the positive impact we make in our communities. One such shining example is Stephen Gomes, a Producer in our Commercial Lines Department, who exemplifies our core values through his commitment to community service and inclusion.
Stephen has been an integral part of the Inszone family, bringing enthusiasm and expertise to his role. Beyond his professional responsibilities, he devoted his time and passion to the Las Vegas Gay Softball World Series, an event that holds significant meaning for him and many others in the LGBTQ+ community.
The Las Vegas Gay Softball World Series is one of the largest LGBTQ+ sporting events globally. Organized by the North American Gay Amateur Athletic Alliance (NAGAAA) and I Pride Softball, the event took place from October 14 to October 19, 2024. It brought together over 5,000 players forming 225 teams from various parts of North America, competing across seven divisions. This week-long event was more than just a tournament; it was a celebration of diversity, camaraderie, and the spirit of competition, featuring numerous social events that fostered community both on and off the field.
Stephen’s involvement with NAGAAA spans over 20 years, during which he has held various roles, including board member and city delegate at semi-annual meetings across the country. He has participated as a player, coach, and volunteer in numerous tournaments, contributing his time and skills to support the organization’s mission.
This year, Stephen participated both as an athlete and a volunteer. On Monday, October 14, before the official competition began, he volunteered as a practice field monitor. In this role, he oversaw one of the field complexes as teams practiced, ensuring everything ran smoothly. Throughout the event, he also assisted in other areas where needed, demonstrating his commitment to making the World Series a success for all involved.
“I have been a part of NAGAAA for over two decades,” Stephen shared. “As an LGBTQ+ athlete, finding a safe and supportive environment to participate in sports can be challenging. NAGAAA and I Pride Softball have provided that space for me and countless others. It’s not just about the game; it’s about being part of a community and building lifelong friendships through competition.”
Stephen’s connection to this event is deeply personal. His dedication to fostering inclusivity in sports aligns with the mission of NAGAAA and I Pride Softball, organizations committed to providing opportunities for the LGBTQ+ community to engage in organized competition within a safe and welcoming environment.
“The reason this event is important to me is that it embodies the spirit of inclusion and acceptance,” Stephen explained. “It’s fulfilling to contribute to an organization that not only promotes athleticism but also creates a space where everyone can be their authentic selves.”
At Inszone Insurance Services, we are proud to have supported Stephen’s participation in the Las Vegas Gay Softball World Series through our Charitable Time Off (CTO) program. We recognize the importance of empowering our employees to engage with causes they are passionate about, reinforcing our commitment to community involvement and social responsibility.
Stephen’s story is a testament to the impact that dedicated individuals can have on their communities. His commitment not only supported the athletes and volunteers at the event but also contributed to the broader mission of promoting inclusivity and diversity in sports.
We extend our congratulations to Stephen and all the participants of the World Series. Their dedication and enthusiasm inspire us all to contribute positively to our communities.
