Community Champions: Bend Office Volunteers at Family Kitchen – Go Health Pro

At Inszone Insurance Services, we know that a simple act of kindness can make a profound impact. Recently, seven employees from our Bend, Oregon office used their Charitable Time Off (CTO) to volunteer at Family Kitchen, a nonprofit that has provided free meals to those in need since 1986. Founded by six women from Trinity Episcopal Church during an economic crisis, Family Kitchen now serves over 20,000 meals each month thanks to a dedicated network of more than 450 volunteers.

On January 29, 2025, the team—Patrick O’Keefe, Galen Blyth, Justin Taylor, Debra Davidson, Lauren Olson, Patricia Halsey, and Janell Julander—spent the day preparing and serving lunch to more than 100 guests. Working alongside Family Kitchen staff, they put together sandwiches, salads, soup, and desserts, set up serving stations, brewed coffee, and organized to-go boxes. Some volunteers greeted visitors with a warm smile and a plate of food, while others packed up meals to be taken to partner sites around the city.

Many participants found the experience personally meaningful. For Justin Taylor, whose own family member struggles with homelessness, the day underscored just how vital these resources are. Lauren Olson and Patricia Halsey remarked on how humbling it was to see the need so close to their office, while the entire group shared in the satisfaction of knowing their hard work would help neighbors facing hunger.

By giving our team members the flexibility to volunteer during work hours, Inszone Insurance Services aims to foster a spirit of community engagement. We are incredibly proud of the Bend office for their dedication and encourage everyone to take advantage of our CTO program to support the causes closest to their hearts.

If you’re an Inszone employee interested in using your Charitable Time Off, please reach out to HR to learn how you can help make a positive difference in the community.
