North Department Land Belief is happy to announce the development of Emma Thompson as its Conservation and Stewardship Director. Thompson joined the Land Belief in 2023, bringing along with her a dedication to conservation and a drive to encourage others with the identical ardour.
With a strong background in conservation and stewardship, Thompson has beforehand labored in environmental consulting and served as a forester with the Pennsylvania Division of Conservation and Pure Assets Bureau of Forestry. She holds a graduate diploma in Forestry and an undergraduate diploma in Public and City Affairs with a concentrate on Public Coverage, Management, and Social Change from Virginia Tech.

Emma has developed a great rapport with present and potential easement landowners, our members, guests, committee members and the Board. Emma’s skilled expertise allowed her to hit the bottom operating with the varied features of this place and this development to Director will permit her to interact in much more methods to preserve and steward our treasured lands and waters in Northeastern Pennsylvania.”
Thompson’s work will embody participating personal landowners to help them in completely conserving their forests, farms, meadows, and waters all through Northeastern Pennsylvania. Since her begin at North Department Land Belief, Thompson has helped preserve 200 acres by means of personal conservation easements. Thompson can even oversee the annual monitoring of conserved lands and preserves, implement administration plans, and collaborate with Land Belief employees to boost customer and academic experiences on the Belief’s preserves.

Outdoors of her skilled life, Thompson enjoys embracing Pennsylvania’s open air along with her canine, whereas mountain climbing, looking, biking, and kayaking.
