Please join us in congratulating Katherine Corbett, our Employee Spotlight for the month of January!
Katherine Corbett is a Marketing Coordinator at Inszone Insurance Services, joining the company in March 2023 after the merger with Corbett & Associates Insurance Agents & Brokers. She graduated from Beverly Hills Highschool in the class of 2009, later attending Santa Monica College where she focused on business. She has always had a love for social media, but it was when she started her own Instagram platform that she grew to love marketing.
Katherine is a member of SAG (Screen Actors Guild). In her previous career, she worked in the film industry, doing various jobs on set. She also volunteers at her son’s school whenever she has the time or helping with different food drives for the homeless. She loves making sure clients are taken care of and always thinks of how she would want her family to be treated, using that as her basis for how she treats everyone.
When asked to share some words about Katherine, Kendall King, who is Inszone’s Senior Marketing Coordinator and Katherine’s direct supervisor, said, “Katherine has been a steady ship in a storm, quietly driving so much of what keeps our team and company running smoothly. She planned and executed the November A&E event and the combined Central/SoCal holiday party flawlessly, but her contributions go far beyond that. From ensuring mailers for M&A are on track and spearheading their next big update, to managing employee spotlights, CTO, and anniversary items that are vital to company culture, she handles it all with care and precision. She personally sends welcome kits to new and acquired employees, ensuring they feel valued from day one. Katherine is also the frontlines of marketing with agency owners, making them feel confident we’ll take great care of what they’ve built, while seamlessly transitioning their materials.
There is so much that Katherine supports behind the scenes that most of us would never even realize was possible because of her contributions. From streamlining processes to ensuring no detail is overlooked, she is the backbone of countless initiatives that keep everything running smoothly. She’s taken on signage projects and countless other responsibilities, all without complaint, always striving to do her best for the company. I see tremendous growth ahead for her in 2025, but it’s her unwavering dedication this year that has truly made an impact.”
To get to know more about Katherine, we asked her a couple of questions about herself and her time at Inszone:
Q: What initially brought you to the insurance industry?
A: I had gone from working in the film industry for ten years to working at a tech company as an executive assistant, my father-in-law needed help with marketing at his agency at the time (Corbett & Associates). I knew a little about insurance as my husband has worked in insurance for almost 10 years now and my father-in-law had been in the industry for 40+ years. It was time for a change, and I figured why not give it a shot!
Q: In what ways do you think your unique background or experiences contribute to your success in your role?
A: Working in the film industry I was very used to a fast paced, always changing, and pivoting environment. I love that almost every day we are doing something new. If something doesn’t work, we are quick to pivot to a way where it works for everyone on the team. No ideas are not welcome, and we are always finding better ways as a team to accomplish processes.
Q: Can you share a particularly challenging situation you faced in your career and how you overcame it?
A: I wouldn’t say I have had a particularly challenging situation. What I will say is I have learned to work with lots of different personalities in my career. Super helpful because I can get along with just about anyone and work in a way that supports everyone individually.
Q: If you could describe your approach to teamwork in three words, what would they be and why?
A: Collaborative, Supportive, Adaptable. Collaborative – Because I value input from others and want to make sure that the environment I am contributing to makes everyone feel heard/seen/valued. Supportive – being helpful and understanding when someone needs it, everyone can always use some support. Adaptable – our team is growing so fast, and some of us are in different countries. It’s important to be adaptable and adjust your strategies and communication skills to meet the team’s needs.
Q: What do you think sets you apart, and how does it benefit your team?
A: I am very grateful for my team. I work hand in hand with Kendall, and she has always created a safe space to be able to ask questions. She has adapted her way of teaching me things to how I learn which I really appreciate. As a whole, the marketing team really works together. We give recognition to who deserves it, but we all win as a team. Juan always teaches us to look back and remember our wins, which wasn’t something I was used to doing before. I am grateful for that insight as I am known to be harder on myself and not take a look at all that I have accomplished.
Q: Who has been the biggest influence or mentor in your life, and what valuable lessons have you learned from them?
A: My dad has always been my mentor/biggest influence. He is the most resilient person I know. My dad came from a small town in Missouri and made a career for himself as an Emmy award-winning Director of Photography in Los Angeles. He has been in the industry for 40+ years. Growing up and seeing him wake up at the crack of dawn every day to get to set and then working till sometimes 10 or 11 at night but still always finding a way to make it to school events, extra-curricular activities, etc really set an example for me. Even through his cancer journey he has kept a smile on his face and a great attitude along with it, and I will never forget his fight. My dad’s favorite quote he always mentions is “never let anyone steal your dreams, even you” and it resonates more and more with me as an adult than it did as a kid. He also always taught me to treat everyone with the same respect and that if I put my name on something it had better be good.
Q: What accomplishment are you most proud of in your career so far, and what did it teach you?
A: That I can adapt and handle pretty much anything that comes my way. Coming from never working in marketing before to now getting an acknowledgement like this makes me very proud and shows you can adapt and succeed at just about anything if you put your mind to it.
