Look at AutoComplete
Have you noticed that, when you start typing in the search bar, the browser offers suggestions to complete the phrase? These don’t come out of thin air. The algorithm takes note of what people are currently looking for, and these could be great keyword opportunities sitting right under your nose!
Keep in mind, however, that success most often lies in the long-tail keywords. These are phrases that are at least three words long and get more specific than broad high-competition keywords. (As an example, “kitchen remodel” could be too broad for a contractor, but “affordable kitchen remodel expert in [your city]” might be an easier target.)
Take a Closer Look at SERPs
After searching for industry-related keywords, scroll down to the “People Also Ask” section. These questions may contain a fresh keyword opportunity. Again, be sure to focus on long-tail keywords.
Other sources of potential keywords can be in the Featured Snippets and video snippets on SERPs. A Featured Snippet is a box at the top of the SERP that quotes a portion of a website and provides a concise answer to the query. Video snippets have a portion of a relevant video and a brief quote.
Determine if you can create a better response than those snippets. If so, you may be able to win those coveted snippet positions for yourself.
Use Google Trends and Google Keyword Planner
Google Keyword Planner helps uncover keyword opportunities for Google Ads. However, its suggestions are also excellent candidates for your content marketing.
Google Trends shows which terms have been most popular on Google and YouTube. It also provides projections, and these forecasts can be great for discovering when to use seasonal keywords.
Can You Make Money From Keywords?
Yes, you can make money from keywords, either directly or indirectly. These methods all rely on you making your site more popular through good SEO practices. Then, either a sponsor or affiliate pays you for conversions, or a visitor pays you for a product or service.
The top ways to make money by capitalizing on keyword opportunities include:
- Selling ad space through Adsense or another ad provider, such as Media.net or Ezoic
- Putting affiliate links in keywords or having a referral partnership where you earn a commission from the sale that results from a visitor purchasing through one of your links
- Selling products and services with calls to action using motivating keywords
- Offering content writing services as a marketing agency by white-labeling content production from another agency
- Selling a popular website that has effectively used profitable keywords
Generating revenue from keywords always involves content creation and SEO. If you can’t manage that workload right now, hire a blog writing service to do it for you.
