Food Security & Family: Ryan Butler’s Holiday Volunteer Effort at The Crossing’s Nutrition Center – Go Health Pro

At Inszone Insurance Services, our dedication to community engagement shines through employees who willingly devote their time and resources to meaningful causes. Ryan Butler, a commercial lines account manager out of our Lee’s Summit office, exemplifies this commitment by using his Charitable Time Off (CTO) to volunteer at The Crossing’s Nutrition Center—a food rescue program in St. Joseph, Missouri that redistributes surplus groceries to local families in need.

On December 24, 2024, Ryan joined volunteers at the Nutrition Center to sort and distribute food. This wasn’t a one-time effort; The Crossing’s Nutrition Center opens its doors twice a week to receive donations from nearby stores that would otherwise discard edible goods. By placing these items directly into the hands of community members, the Nutrition Center helps alleviate food insecurity in a caring, dignified way. Ryan’s shift involved packing boxes filled with groceries and passing them curbside to vehicles as well as to walk-up recipients—ensuring no one was left without essential items.

“It’s an event I look forward to whenever we visit my wife’s hometown,” Ryan shared. “My father-in-law volunteers here every week, and my family has pitched in whenever we’re in St. Joseph. This time felt special, happening on Christmas Eve. Giving back on a day that symbolizes joy and hope was a powerful reminder of what the holidays are truly about.”

Ryan’s longstanding family tradition resonates with Inszone’s broader commitment to social responsibility. By dedicating a day of service—particularly on a holiday when many are celebrating at home—he underscored the profound impact even a few hours of volunteerism can have on a community dealing with food insecurity. His efforts also highlight how small acts of kindness, such as distributing produce or greeting families with a warm smile, contribute meaningfully to the well-being of others.

At Inszone Insurance Services, we proudly encourage these endeavors through our Charitable Time Off (CTO) program, which allows team members to allocate paid volunteer hours toward the causes that move them. We believe in fostering a workforce that remains connected to the communities they serve, embodying our core values of empathy and service beyond the workplace.

For Inszone employees interested in harnessing CTO for a nonprofit or service initiative, please reach out to Human Resources for details on how to get involved. We commend Ryan for using his holiday to lift up others—illustrating how a single day of giving can offer hope, nourishment, and encouragement to an entire community.
