The Foundation for Pennsylvania Watersheds (FPW) announces the spring request for grants is now open on the FPW grant portal at thefpw.org. More than $500,000 is available for projects that advance the protection and restoration of Pennsylvania’s waterways.
The grant application cycle opened in February 2025 with letters of interest (LOI) due by March 15. If the LOI is accepted, full proposals are due April 25, 2025.
The FPW invests in local efforts in Pennsylvania that protect healthy streams, clean up pollution, and restore degraded wildlife habitat. Twice a year, the foundation distributes grants that leverage local, state, and federal funds to protect the best of the best and restore the worst of the worst water problems. New Grant Programs Support Nonprofit Needs
Starting this spring, the FPW is introducing two new programs for nonprofits to support their grant needs by providing working capital and operational support grants. The working capital support program aims to further leverage funds for grantees by providing interest-free loans to cover reimbursable expenditures on existing grant contracts. The operational support grants provide funding for general operating costs associated with leveraging larger grants or serving as a match for non-allowable expenses as part of your existing contract. Organizations interested in learning more about the working capital support program or operational support grants should reach out to the FPW to schedule a preliminary conversation about your organizational needs.
Grants Program Administrator Hired
The FPW also announces the hiring of a new grants program administrator. Maggie Anderson will oversee and enhance the grants program — ensuring a smooth application process and that grantees are supported through the application, awarding, and reporting phase. Currently residing in State College, Maggie has worked in journalism, marketing, nonprofits, and conservation, most recently at ClearWater Conservancy where she served as the director of operations.
The FPW provides matching grant funds to both small and large groups and organizations throughout much of the Commonwealth. Through the FPW’s grantmaking, assistance is provided to conservation organizations to achieve their restoration goals, while ensuring enough clean water for future generations.
