Penn State golfer named spring captain of Allstate NACDA Good Works Team – Go Health Pro

NORTHBROOK, Ill., [May 22, 2025] –Penn State women’s golfer Jami Morris, a Cleveland native and founder of one of Northeast Ohio’s most successful student-run cancer fundraisers, has been named spring captain of the Allstate NACDA Good Works Team.  Morris leads a class of 20 standout student-athletes honored for excellence in community service, academics and athletics.

After her mother was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2016, Morris turned a personal challenge into a mission to help others. She founded Hit Fore Hope, a charity golf event held at her home course in Cleveland, with an initial goal of raising $10,000 for University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center. That goal quickly grew into a movement: in just three years, Morris raised more than $280,000 to support cancer research, patient care and family services.

“Hit Fore Hope started as a way to honor my mom, and I never imagined it would grow like this,” said Morris. “Being named captain of the Good Works Team is proof of what can happen when a community comes together with purpose.”

In addition to leading Hit Fore Hope, Morris collaborates with University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center in Cleveland to ensure funds directly benefit critical programs. A passionate advocate for student-athlete service, she actively speaks about cancer awareness and encourages young people to drive meaningful philanthropic change.

“As a cancer survivor, I know the power of turning adversity into action,” said Holly Rowe, ESPN reporter, play-by-play commentator and Allstate NACDA Good Works Team Ambassador. “What Jami has accomplished with Hit Fore Hope is truly inspiring, and I’m proud to see her named captain of the Good Works Team.”

The Allstate NACDA Good Works Team (Spring) recognizes 20 student-athletes from NCAA Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, spanning sports such as baseball, softball, tennis, golf, lacrosse and track and field. Chosen from over 200 nominations nationwide, these honorees are leaders in both service and performance. The team captain is selected for their exceptional leadership and impact, extending well beyond the scoreboard.
