Brown, Goldstein & Levy sponsored the 2025 National Federation of the Blind of Maryland State Convention, held February 13 to 16 in Ocean City, Maryland. The convention drew approximately 500 blind and low-vision individuals, families, friends and blindness professionals to raise awareness and advocate for the independence of the blind in Maryland. We have worked with the NFB for almost four decades and are proud to continue standing with the organization in our shared mission of fighting for blind individuals’ right to equal access and treatment.
Monica Basche attended a Civil Rights and Constitutional Law Roundtable on February 11 hosted by the Maryland Association for Justice. The roundtable discussed the Administrative Remedies Procedure (ARP) process for incarcerated individuals, with a focus on the requirements set forth in § 5-1003 of the Maryland Courts and Judicial Proceedings Article and COMAR 12.02.28. Monica Basche also attended the American Association for Justice Winter Convention, hosted from February 14 to 18 in Miami, Florida. The five-day conference brought together accomplished trial lawyers from across the country to network, learn about developments in the world of trial advocacy and build knowledge to continue building trial law-centered practice areas. Monica enjoyed the opportunity to connect with other leading plaintiff’s attorneys representing clients in a wide array of practice areas, including civil rights and police misconduct
Anthony May and Lauren DiMartino attended and presented at the 2025 Federal Bar Association Civil Rights Étouffée. The two-day event consisted of a mini bootcamp on Section 1983 and panels from experts in various areas of civil rights litigation. Learn more about Lauren’s and Anthony’s presentations here.
On February 13, of counsel Andrew Radding delivered a speech on the origins of the Grand Jury in England and in the United States to Valencia College. The speech covered the original founding of the Grand Jury in England as a mechanism for moving forward with criminal proceedings against accused individuals. The Massachusetts Bay Colony impaneled the first U.S. Grand Jury in the early 17th century. The speech was part of an ongoing lecture series.
