1. Call for Books: International Human Rights Law in Practice Series.  The Series Editors of the International Human Rights Law in Practice Series are inviting proposals for the publication of monographs, edited volumes, and commentaries, on any aspect falling within the remit of the Series. The Editors are particularly interested in books touching on aspects of the following topics: (i) Addressing Inequalities within and among States through Human Rights; (ii) Climate Change and Human Rights Law; (iii) Human Rights in Armed Conflict: Case studies; and (iv) Migration and Human Rights Law. Prospective authors should submit by 30 June 2025 the following: (i) a 1600-word overview of the content and structure the book; (ii) a 700-word outline of the reasons as to why the book should be published in light of existing case law and literature; (iii) a sample chapter (only in the case of manuscripts at an advanced stage); and (iv) a curriculum vitae. Submissions should be sent to the attention of Lauren Danahy, Acquisitions Editor at lauren.danahy {at} brill(.)com. After a first in-house assessment, the proposal shall be submitted to double-blind peer review. Once a proposal is accepted, prospective authors shall be invited to produce the entire manuscript, which will be, in turn, submitted to double-blind peer-review.  

2. ELI Webinar on Ethical Standards and Judicial Discipline. On 27 November 2024, the European Law Institute (ELI), adopted its ELI-Mount Scopus European Standards of Judicial Independence, available here, to strengthen and uphold the impartiality of European judiciaries. The third webinar in the Judicial Independence Series will take place on 12 February 2025 from 12:30–14:00 CET. More information and registration here.

3. Call for Abstracts: An Interdisciplinary Perspective on Heritage Reparations: Responding to Climate-Induced Damages. Leiden Law School and the Leiden University Faculty of Archaeology are jointly organising a workshop on 16 May 2025. The workshop focuses on the overlooked issue of reparations for climate-related damages to cultural heritage. It aims to open up a dialogue about who should provide reparations, how claims for reparations can be made and by whom, and what types of damages might be compensated. The organisers invite contributions from researchers or practitioners in all career stages and from all disciplines, including (but not limited to) archaeology, anthropology, architecture, critical heritage studies, geography, history and law. 4. International Energy Law: Recent Developments and Future Research Agenda. On 20 February 2025 at 15:00 SGT, the Centre for International Law (CIL), National university of Singapore will host a hybrid seminar exploring the definition, sources, and scope of international energy law and discussing how its future agenda can be shaped amidst various priorities such as the energy transition, just transition, access to energy and affordability and energy security, among other pressing global energy-related issues. The seminar will feature Professor Damilola S. Olawuyi, SAN, CIL’s Distinguished Visiting Global Scholar, who is a Professor and UNESCO Chair on Environmental Law and Sustainable Development at the Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) College of Law, Doha, Qatar. 5. Call for Papers: Navigating the North – Perspectives on Sustainable Development in the Artic. This Call for Papers is for a workshop at University of Inland Norway (Lillehammer, Norway) on 28 – 29 August 2025. Deadline is 15 March 2025. For more information, see here.

6. International Workshop on Interdisciplinary Approach to Climate Change Education. The Indo-Dutch Research Center on Climate Change Law Research and Education, a collaborative effort of Government Law College, Ernakulam, India and Van Vollenhoven institute of Leiden University, Netherlands is organizing an International Workshop on Interdisciplinary Approach to Climate Change Education on 27 – 28 February, 2025 at Government Law College, Ernakulam. The workshop will be held in hybrid mode. They invite enthusiasts from all disciplines to share their insights into the interdiciplinary approach to climate change.  Abstracts not exceeding 500 words may be submitted here. The deadline for submission is on 12 February 2025, 11:59 pm IST.

7. 2025 International Foundation for the Law of the Sea Summer Academy. The Summer Academy of the International Foundation for the Law of the Sea (IFLOS) is a centre of excellence for the study of international law of the sea, maritime law, and related interdisciplinary fields, including economic and natural sciences. The program offers an opportunity to learn from a faculty that includes judges of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea (ITLOS), professors, and leading professionals in the maritime sector. Each year, the Academy welcomes approximately 40 participants from across the globe. The Summer Academy encourages collaboration and dialogue among individuals from diverse academic and professional backgrounds, fostering a vibrant community dedicated to advancing knowledge in the field. 8. Max Planck Masterclass: EU Law in a Changing Europe. The next Max Planck Masterclass with Professors Floris de Witte and Bruno de Witte is now open for applications (deadline 10 April). The Masterclass on “EU Law in a Changing Europe” will take place on 10 – 13 June 2025 at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg, Germany. 9. Call for Submissions: The Netherlands Yearbook of International Law. The Netherlands Yearbook of International Law (NYIL) is inviting submissions for the ‘Dutch Practice in International Law’ section of Volume 55. This section looks to provide academic reflections and commentaries on contemporary and salient developments in the Dutch practice of international law in 2025, highlighting key cases and evolving legal doctrines that have emerged from it. Abstracts (max. 400 words) are due by 28 February 2025, with selected authors invited to submit full papers (5,000–7,000 words) for double-blind peer review. 10. Call for Papers: Canadian Yearbook of International Law. The Canadian Yearbook of International Law invites submissions of articles, notes and comments, in English or in French, that advance critical thinking in all areas of public or private international law. Whilst submissions for each annual volume are encouraged by 31 January, submissions may be considered at any time as the Yearbook has a rolling acceptance policy and publishes online throughout the year until each annual volume is filled.
