Jessie Weber speaks on panel about global accessibility laws as part of the U.S. General Services Administration’s annual Interagency Accessibility Forum. – Go Health Pro

Brown, Goldstein & Levy Managing Partner Jessie Weber spoke as a panelist in a roundtable discussion entitled “A Journey Through Global Accessibility Laws,” before an audience of nearly 400 individuals, during the U.S. General Services Administration’s (GSA) seventh annual Interagency Accessibility Forum (IAAF) on May 21.

Since 2013, the GSA has been hosting the forum for agency representatives, and the general public, to learn about federal accessibility policies and how they can adapt Section 508 standards to prioritize accessible technology.

Jessie, along with fellow panelists – Kathy Eng, Senior ICT Accessibility Specialist, U.S. Access Board; Nadine Charron, Executive Director of the Accessibility, Accommodation, and Adaptive Computer Technology (AAACT) Program, Shared Services Canada; Susanna Laurin, Managing Director and Chair, Funka Foundation; Alison Levy, Director, Office of Technical and Information Services, U.S. Access Board – discussed how different countries are promoting Information and Communication Technology (ICT) accessibility through legislation and regulations.

The panelists spoke about various laws including Section 508, the Accessible Canada Act, and the European Accessibility Act. Jessie focused on Title II of the ADA, specifically the new web and mobile accessibility rule, which requires state and local government entities to make websites and mobile applications accessible for people with disabilities.

For decades, Brown Goldstein & Levy has been dedicated to high-impact disability rights cases and advocacy on behalf of individuals with disabilities and their families. Read more about our disability rights practice here.
