Brown, Goldstein & Levy Managing Partner Jessie Weber was featured in an April 29 panel discussion about how lawyers are fighting to protect democracy, and what everyone can do to help, hosted by the Yale Law School Alumni Network to Strengthen Democracy.

The panel of Yale Law School alumni discussed some of the initiatives currently underway to protect democracy and the rule of law. They also explained how others can help with these efforts as “force multipliers.”

Jessie’s fellow panelists included National Legal Director of the ACLU Cecilia Wang, Executive Director of Protect Democracy Ian Bassin, Senior Legal Advisor of Democracy Forward Carrie Flaxman, Founder of the International Refugee Assistance Project Rebecca Heller, and Managing Partner of the Chandra Law Firm Subodh Chandra, who led the session.

Many lawyers have been struggling to determine what they can do to address the attacks on the rule of law inflicted by the current administration. Jessie and other panelists discussed ways their firms and organizations are working to directly challenge the attacks and offered calls to action for listeners on concrete ways they can help with these and other efforts.

Recently, Jessie was featured on an episode of Slate’s podcast Amicus with Dahlia Lithwick, titled “A Lawyer’s Guide to Not Caving to the President,” in which she discussed the impact of law firms’ response to the Trump administration’s executive orders targeting the legal industry and how lawyers can fight back.
