Monica Basche, attorney at Brown, Goldstein & Levy, presented an update on current issues facing Randolph-Sheppard Act vendors during the general session of the Virginia Business Opportunities for the Blind Annual Meeting on March 28. The Randolph-Sheppard Act is a federal statute that gives blind licensed vendors priority in operating vending facilities on federal properties.
During her presentation, Monica discussed how Executive Orders issued by the new presidential administration could impact the Randolph-Sheppard vending program, as well as new proposed regulations issued by the Department of Education, the federal agency that administers the program.
Congress enacted the Randolph-Sheppard Act to increase economic opportunities for blind vendors. The Act has helped thousands of blind merchants build successful businesses across the country. BGL has a 35-year history of advocating for the rights of blind merchants. BGL’s attorneys have won several precedent-setting cases to protect and expand the rights of blind vendors and state licensing agencies.
