Brown, Goldstein & Levy paralegal and disability rights advocate Kayle Hill presented at the Including Disability Global Summit on April 23 as part of the three-day virtual conference, which serves as a platform for dialogue and collaboration focused on addressing large-scale societal barriers that challenge disabled individuals.
Since its inception in 2017, the annual conference has brought together a diverse group of attendees from various disciplines, professions, disability communities, and national backgrounds. This year’s theme, Crip Narratives: Controlling Our Stories, centered on the importance of self-representation and storytelling within the disability community.
Kayle’s lecture, titled Disability & The Internet: The Good, The Bad, and The Future, explored the many barriers’ people with disabilities face online and how intersecting identities influence internet accessibility. Drawing from her own experiences in seeking accessible companionship as a disabled child and later as a disabled adult with chronic pain, Kayle highlighted key areas where improvements are needed to create a more inclusive digital world.
Kayle holds a master’s degree in Disability Studies from the CUNY School of Professional Studies, with a professional career focus on disability and legal advocacy. As a paralegal at Brown, Goldstein & Levy, she plays a crucial role in equipping attorneys with the resources they need to achieve justice for their clients. Her dedication to disability rights advocacy extends beyond her professional work, as she actively engages in efforts to promote accessibility and inclusion.
