1. Call for Papers: In the Name of National Security – The Fragility of Human Rights. The Centre for Public Law at the University of Cambridge and Universidad Autónoma de Madrid will co-host a workshop In the Name of National Security: The Fragility of Human Rights at the Centro de Estudios Políticos y Constitucionales in Madrid on 3 July 2025. Keynotes will be presented by Professor Iain Cameron and Professor Ana María Salinas de Frías. The workshop is held in conjunction with the European Human Rights Law Review and it is intended that a selection of papers from the workshop will be included in a Special Issue of the journal in 2026. Additional support for the event is generously provided by the Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades, Confinanciado por la Unión Europea. The organisers welcome abstracts on any topic within the theme. To propose a paper, submit an abstract of 250-500 words by 25 April 2025 using this form. Full papers are to be submitted by 26 June 2025, one week in advance of the workshop. Papers may be between 5,000 and 10,000 words (inclusive of footnotes). 2. Leiden-Edinburgh Global Law Summer School: Public Interest Dispute Resolution and Advocacy. The Summer Course on Global Law, offered jointly by Leiden and Edinburgh Law Schools, focuses this year on the theme of Public Interest Dispute Resolution and Advocacy. It offers research-based education on public interest litigation as a core feature of global legal practice. Coordinated by Letizia Lo Giacco (Leiden) and Gail Lythgoe (Edinburgh), there are modules on Transnational Food Governance: Markets, Movements, and Regulations, Global Security Governance, and Climate Change Litigation: Views from the Practice. 1. Call for Papers: Canterbury Christ Church University. Canterbury Christ Church University, Kent, United Kingdom has issued a call for papers for its annual law conference titled “Protections in International Law.” The conference will be held from the 18 – 19 March 2025 at their campus and facility, with online presenters as well. The conference examines the current scope of protections available to individuals under international law and questions the limitations of such protections through diverse critical lenses in multiple fields of international law including, international human rights law, international humanitarian law, international criminal law, AI governance initiatives and investment law. 1. TwoLaw – Lecture Series on the Laws of War. On 28 November 2024, from 6-7 pm CET, Claire Vergerio (independent scholar) will give the next lecture of the TwoLaw – Lecture Series on the Laws of war. The topic of the lecture is “War, States, and International Order: Alberico Gentili and the Foundational Myth of the Laws of War” and focuses on the historical development of the prerogative of sovereign states to wage war. Vergerio argues that this arrangement was not derived from the ideas of Alberico Gentili and that this story was invented by a group of prominent international lawyers. 2. Call for Papers: Guidance, Expertise, Theoretical Authority and the Legitimacy of International Governance. This workshop will bring together international lawyers, philosophers, political scientists and scholars in related fields interested in exploring the role that epistemic authority and expertise play in today’s global governance. Abstracts are invited for a 2 day workshop to take place at Maynooth University, Ireland on 20 – 21 March 2025 to be sent to theoreticalauthority (at) gmail(,)com by 5 January 2025. 1. Name for Submissions: Symposium on Enhancing Compliance with Human Rights from Under in Occasions of Disaster. The Editors of the Asian Yearbook of Human Rights and Humanitarian Regulation (Brill Nijhoff) are inviting submissions for his or her upcoming (hybrid) symposium on “Enhancing Compliance with Human Rights from Under in Occasions of Disaster” to be held on Friday 13 December 2024 on the College of Regulation of Hasselt College, Belgium. This symposium seeks to discover how native communities, grassroots actions, civil society organizations and most of the people at giant can successfully promote and shield human rights when conventional top-down mechanisms falter in occasions of disaster (local weather change, migration flows or political upheavals, and many others). Students, practitioners, and activists from numerous disciplines and geographical areas are invited to submit their summary (max. 250 phrases) to the Normal Editor of the Yearbook, Prof. Dr. Matthias Vanhullebusch (e-mail: matthias.vanhullebusch {at} uhasselt(.)be) no later than 30 October 2024. Deadline for articles to Vol. 9 of the Yearbook is 31 January 2025.

2. Worldwide Regulation Colloquium on the Geneva Graduate Institute: Autumn 2024 Programme. The Division of Worldwide Regulation on the Geneva Graduate Institute has introduced the Autumn 2024 version of the Worldwide Regulation Colloquium. The audio system shall be presenting and discussing in-depth their works protecting totally different elements of worldwide regulation and from totally different disciplinary views.
